RULES


Bell’Arte Europa International Cultural Society announces The Third “Pequeños Grandes Pianistas” International Piano Competition. The Competition is open to applicants around the world, who have never won the first prize in the same category they apply for. All applicants must present parental or authorised tutor consent.


DATES AND LOCATION:

25, 26 and 27 May, 2012

Auditórium “El Pósito”

Sigüenza (Guadalajara) – Spain



CATEGORIES:

Participants will be classed in three categories:

Category A: 15 to 17 years old (applicants should be under 18 by May 25, 2012)

Category B: 11 to 14 years old (applicants should be under 15 by May 25, 2012)

Category C: younger than 11 years old as of May 25th

Category B and C participants may choose to compete in higher category if they wish to do so, but that each participant may only compete in one group.



TIMELINE:

Friday, 4th of May 2012:

• Last day to register applications

Friday, 25th of May 2012:

• Candidates to be greeted at the “El Pósito” Auditorium

• Introduction of the Competition and draw for order of performance.

• Opening Recital

Saturday, 26 of May 2012:

• Qualifying rounds Cat. A, B and C

Sunday, 27 of May 2012:

• Category A and B Final

• Prize awards

• Winner's recital - Closing concert

Application Requirements:

• Photocopy of valid identity document: DNI, passport or birth certificate stating applicants name and nationality.

• Registration form duly completed and signed by parent or authorised tutor.

• Applicants photograph with name and surname.

• An entry fee of 47,20€ is payable to Bell’Arte Europa International Cultural Society before May 4 . Payment should be made by transfer -stating the applicants name and the Group he or she has chosen to compete in- to the following bank account:

• Foreign residents may pay the entry fee on 4th of May 2012 at the opening act.

REPERTOIRE:

Category A

First round

• One work by J. S. Bach

• A study

• Programme of free choice

The duration of the repertoire should be longer than 10 minutes and not exceed 15 minutes.

Final:

• First movement of classical sonata (J.Haydn, W.Mozart, L.Beethoven)

• Programme of free choice

The duration of the repertoire should be longer than 10 minutes and not exceed 25 minutes.

Category B

First round:

• One work by J. S. Bach

• One work of free choice

The repertoire should be not exceed 15 minutes.

Final:

• One study

• Programme of free choice

The duration of the repertoire should not exceed 20 minutes.

Category C (only one round)

• One work by J. S. Bach

• One study

• One work of free choice

The duration of the repertoire should not exceed 15 minutes.

No work shall be repeated at any stage of the Competition.

All works must be played from memory.

PRIZES:

The following prizes will be awarded in each category:

- First Prize Diploma to all participants having obtained 95 points or higher average score according to the votes issued by the jury.

- Second Prize Diploma to all participants having obtained between 90 and 94 points average score according to the votes issued by the jury.

- Third Prize Diploma to all participants having obtained between 85 and 89 points average score according to the votes issued by the jury.

- The highest score on each category will obtain an additional Absolute First Prize Diploma plus reimbursement of expenses of 300 euros for category A, 200 euros for category B and 150 euros for category C.

• The jury reserves the right to declare any of the above prizes deserted.

• The jury may decide to award any of the prizes “ex aequo”. In this case the prize will be allocated equally.

• The prizes are stated before any aplicable taxes or witholdings.



JURY:

The jury will be made up of concert musicians and music educators of international renoun from various conservatories and music schools.



FURTHER REGULATIONS:

• A draw for order of performance will be carried out by the jury. Any participants not present when their names are called will lose the right to compete.

Performances will be open to the pubic.

• The organisation reserves the right to allow audio or video recordings in the venue

• Jury decisions will be irrevocables, both at the qualifying rounds and the final.

• The jury reserves the right to request partial performances and to interrupt a performance that exceeds the allocated time.

• The acceptance of any prize implies a commitment to participate in the closing recital.

• The organisation will provide information on available accommodation.

• All participants must be accompanied by an adult. The organisation will not be responsible for any problems with participants.

• Registering to this Competition implies acceptance of its terms and conditions.


INTERPRETATION:

Should any dispute arise regarding the interpretation of any part of the rules and regulations of the “Pequeños Grandes Pianistas”, the prevailing interpretation will be that of the Spanish version.

The Organisation reserves the right to amend any of the rules or regulations contained herein if it is considered necessary.
